Public interest is forgotten because of some powerful dominant firms and advertising agencies in their pursuit of revenue. Through mass media vehicles and technological advances the “hyper-commercialization” of society is more and more supported and facilitated. Product placement incorporates the product into mass media content in order to make it unavoidable. For instance, Coca-Cola paid AOL Time Warner $25 million to feature WB Network characters consuming cokes during episodes. As a result, the credibility and the diversity of the media are decreasing.
