My Celebrity

Frédéric Beigbeder was first an advertiser before becoming a literary critic, an author and then an editor.

Frédéric Beigbeder was born in 1965 in Paris. After College, he integrates Sciences Po in Paris which is a high selective university and will obtain a Master in marketing and advertising.
In 1991, he will be hired by the advertising agency CLM-BBDO due to the success of his first novel. He is also a chronicler for some famous French magazines such as “Elle”, “Voici” and “Paris Match”.
He is then hired by TBWA (which is a well-known advertising agency as it is managing advertising for famous brands such as Absolut Vodka, Apple, Nissan, Sony playStation, etc.).
He will finally work for Young & Rubicam as a creative director. Young & Rubicam is a marketing and communication company specialised in advertising, public relations, sales promotion, direct marketing and brand identity consulting. There, Frédéric Beigbeder will create several texts for ads that will strongly contribute to his success such as for example: “Look at me in the eyes. I said in the eyes” for Wonderbra.
In 1994, he creates “Le Prix de Flore” which aims to award a new young talent every year.
In 2000, he realises his best success with one autobiographic novel called: “99 francs” which became a best seller  and that will be adapted later for the cinema (2007). In this novel, Frédéric Beigbeder is denouncing the manipulation and the strategies used by advertising agencies. More precisely, his novel is based on a humouristic slogan: “Welcome in a better world”. This conclusion summarises the untrue promises associated with advertising. This success will cost him his job at Young & Rubicam.
Then, Frédéric Beigbeder will launch his own literary TV show called “Des Livres et moi” (Books and I). In 2003, he became an editor for Flammarion and will publish 25 books before his resignation in 2006. He will become a chronicler for several TV shows and will also work as an organizer for a critical program about literary and cinematography.
Through his short but impressive career, Frédéric Beigbeder received several awards.
